Join KARST’s Board of Trustees

We are seeking Trustees with expertise in large capital development projects, community engagement, and contemporary art to join KARST’s board.

KARST values people, collaboration, and creating opportunities for extraordinary work. We are looking for ambitious Trustees who share our vision for Plymouth as an international city where arts, culture, and innovation are central to regeneration.

We are seeking Trustees who:

  • Bring fresh insights and perspectives.
  • Are keen to develop or share their skills and experience.
  • Engage fully, offering creativity, ideas, and constructive challenge.
  • Understand and accept the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship, following Nolan’s seven principles: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.
  • Demonstrate integrity, independence of mind, and sound judgment.

We welcome all applications, particularly from people with lived experience of marginalisation, including disabled and global majority communities (Caribbean, African, South Asian, East Asian, South-East Asian, North African, Middle Eastern, and mixed heritage). Applicants do not need a contemporary arts background or previous Board experience.

The collective responsibilities of the KARST Board are to:

  • Advise on vision, mission, and strategy; review and approve strategic plans.
  • Monitor operational activities and policies for effective management.
  • Provide financial oversight, risk management, and compliance.
  • Support the Executive Director and Senior Management Team.
  • Foster a culture of openness, constructive dialogue, and shared learning.
